ZH1.5 vs PH2.0 Connectors Key Differences

ZH1.5 vs PH2.0 Connectors: Key Differences

When selecting a wire-to-board connector for your harness, pitch is one of the first decisions. ZH1.5 and PH2.0 are two of the most common JST-style connectors, and choosing the right one depends on board space, current requirement, and locking strength.

Pitch and Size

ZH1.5 has a 1.5mm pitch, making it about 25% narrower than PH2.0 (2.0mm pitch). If your PCB is space-constrained, ZH1.5 lets you fit more positions in the same footprint. PH2.0 is more forgiving for hand assembly and rework.

Current Rating

Because of the smaller contact area, ZH1.5 is rated for lower current than PH2.0. As a general guide, use ZH1.5 for signal-level circuits (below 1A) and PH2.0 when you need a bit more current margin on power lines.

Locking and Reliability

Both housings use a positive locking latch, but the larger PH2.0 latch gives a firmer feel and higher retention force, which matters in vibration environments. ZH1.5 still holds well for fixed, low-vibration applications.

Wire and AWG Selection

ZH1.5 is commonly paired with 28-32AWG wires such as UL1571. PH2.0 accepts 24-28AWG (e.g. UL1007/UL1571), which suits slightly longer runs and higher currents.

How to Choose

  • Board space is tight and current is low → choose ZH1.5 (1.5mm pitch)
  • You need higher current or stronger retention → choose PH2.0 (2.0mm pitch)
  • Not sure about your application? Send us your drawing and we will recommend the right connector.

Jiayu Electronics produces both ZH1.5 and PH2.0 terminal wires with custom length, tinning, and crimping. Samples are available within 3-5 working days.
